Michele has been excited about refractive procedures ever since she had LASIK in 1996. She believed in the procedure so much, she changed careers to work in a LASIK-only private practice in Houston. She then relocated to Hawaii and helped create a refractive program for a private practice on Oahu. UVA enabled her to expand her ophthalmic knowledge, working with a variety of ophthalmology specialists. As a JCAHPO certified ophthalmic technician, COT, and part of the clinical and surgical team, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise to UVA LASIK.
Brooke’s entire career has been with UVA Ophthalmology. She started doing visual fields and has expanded her knowledge and experience into all aspects of technical support for a wide range of specialties. She obtained her JCAHPO certification as an ophthalmic assistant and was then promoted to technician photographer. Her unique set of skills translated into becoming a research photographer, assisting with clinical trials at UVA. LASIK was a natural progression for her expertise and interests, and she joined the UVA LASIK team.
